(1989 - UK) A trio of thieves led by Stone (Coyote)
gather together to pull a heist. After a flawless armored car robbery, the driver panics
resulting in an accident with a limousine, killing everyone inside including a young girl.
It turns out that the girl's father is an unsavory character, who promptly hires a guy
named Costello (Sayer) as a hitman to find and carry out his revenge against the three
crooks who have all gone their separate ways. This sadistic, shadowlike figure becomes
more and more of an unstoppable force in Stone's life.
After two attempts on his life, Stone realizes he cannot remain in America
so he sends his wife away, changes his identity and flees to England to seek help from an
old colleague, Terry Abbat (Smith). He moves in with Terry and his live-in girlfriend,
Madge (Whitelaw). As the strands of this web of intrigue are tightened, everything
converges upon a final confrontation between Stone and his stalker at Pleasureland, the
amusement park owned by Terry. |
